The Music Ministry exists in a church for several reasons. The primary reason is to lead others in the worship of the everlasting God. It is a joy and a privilege to |
| lift up songs of praise in corporate worship. The Music Ministry also exists to provide musical and spiritual training. Through our graded choir program and various choirs we seek to train people of all ages in worship, hymnody, singing, and God’s Word. |

We have two morning Worship services at Mt. Hermon 8:30 a.m. & 11 a.m. with an evening service at 6:00 p.m. Mt. Hermon has a strong musical heritage that is very evident in our times of worship. We sing a blend of the great hymns of our faith with contemporary choruses. The Adult Choir sings nearly every week with additional music provided by instrumentalists, ensembles and soloists. Our evening service provides opportunities for soloists, ensembles, and New Generation Choir to sing. The Youth Choir sings for evening worship every month. |

The Adult Choir is the primary leadership choir for morning worship. We take very seriously our role as worship leaders and seek to offer our very best. We strive for excellence, knowing that God takes our gifts and multiplies them for His glory. |
| The Adult Choir has been privileged to sing for the annual BGAV state convention in 2004 and the VA Baptist Adult Choir Retreat in 2003. They also present musicals and concerts, oftentimes with featured composers. |
| This choir is open to all who are interested in singing. There are no auditions. College-age and up are invited to join us any Wednesday night for rehearsal at 7:30 in the Sanctuary. This choir family always has room for more and would welcome you. |

The New Generation Choir is the Sr. Adult Choir at Mt. Hermon. We rehearse on Tuesday mornings from 9:30 10:30 a.m. in the Choir Room. This group is open to anyone who wishes to come and share in the fellowship and fun of singing. The New Generation Choir sings for worship periodically, has a monthly nursing home ministry, and presents musicals on occasion. |
| Out of this group there is a men’s quartet, HM Sound. These men sing for worship and provide music out in the community and for other churches. |

Seeking to engage teenagers (7th-12th grade) in a lifestyle of worship and music, the Youth Choir meets every Sunday afternoon (through the school year) at 5:00 in the Choir Room. They sing regularly in our evening worship services and in morning worship occasionally. A year full of opportunities includes attending YouthCUE, a regional festival with 400 other youth, and a Spring Tour. |
| Spring Tour is a long-weekend of sharing music with other churches and retirement homes, with a little fun mixed in. We have traveled through North Carolina to Newport News, VA and to Atlanta, GA. |

All children, age 3 through grade 6, are invited to be a part of our children’s choir program. The children enjoy making music with singing and instruments, and learn about worship and God’s Word. Children age 4 and up lead in the Hanging of the Greens service on the first Sunday of Advent. They present songs in worship and help decorate the sanctuary. In the spring children grades 1-6 usually present a musical. As choirs are prepared throughout the year they will sing in worship. These choirs meet through the school year on Sunday afternoons at 5:00 p.m. For more information please contact Jana or call the church office. |
